Jesse Wheaton Homestead
Tour, Lore, & Tasting
October 28, 2017
Wheaton, IL
John and Deb Lorentsen grew up in Wheaton but were unaware that the house at 310 W. Evergreen St. belonged to one of the founders of the city of Wheaton, Jesse C. Wheaton and his wife, Orinda Gary Wheaton. Intrigued by its role in local history and its exceptional craftsmanship, they purchased the previously never been sold one hundred seventy year old house and many of its contents in November 2010. They were able to move in after restoration efforts were complete in December 2012. It is the Lorentsen’s desire that the house continue to tell the story of one of the first families to settle in the area in the 1830’s.
